Rockstars Are Shorter In Person
Awesome!?
Chris Garneau was super-rad last night at The Borderline last night. There were three support bands, and we sat on the floor in what felt like a wine cellar on a farm somewhere (even if it was actually central London) and drank red wine and I made friends with a girl who also likes the same bands as me.
After the gig I waiting around for him to come out into the audience, which I figured was inevitable as the only way out of the place is up the stairs. Picture me in a gridiron outfit, but instead of waiting for the football, I was about to tackle a four foot tall Frenchman. And he was really as short as he looks in this photo. He came over, and thanked me for travelling from Melbourne just to see him (okay, that bit may have been influenced by the wine) and signed my CD with ‘SHA-BAM’. The set mostly consisted of songs from ‘Music For Tourists‘ and his new ep ‘C-Sides’, but also a couple of great sounding new tracks.
Ian and I then got up a 7:30am, for some insane reason, to have a very posh breakfast at a very posh London eatery where a guy was doing cocaine on a Sunday morning in the cubicle of the bathroom at a very posh eatery in London. I bought some kickass red Converse shoes, we walked around for what seems like one million miles, and then having paid off my credit card I bought tickets to see Iron & Wine at the forum in May. And that was pretty much my weekend.
